if you really want something to go on and you feel that if someone does something it might be risky for what you want to do you could make an out of character note (OOC) to tell that person's character that they can keep going and if the conditions are right and both people agree the plot can keep going without too much confusion and will probably reduce many plot holes.
OOC comments should be separated from the story, like I use a bunch of dashes. ----------------------------------------- OOC: this is an OOC note
OOC comments should not be abused OOC comments that dont have anything to do with the story anymore or are old, (as in the story has moved on and the OOC doesnt apply anymore) should be edited out.
keep in mind that OOC comments are only suggestions and should be worded to be so (because you really dont want to stifle other peoples ideas and take over the story) but if your idea is a good one it shouldn't be ignored.
